Conseil geacute;néral de l’Aisne

Cyclists taking part in the Tour de Picardie have just one goal: to cross the department of Aisne as fast as possible! And yet, if they took a break, they would discover many a treasure.

Cathedrals, abbeys and keeps abound in Aisne: the department is ranked 4th for the number of its historical monuments. The natural landscapes of cereal fields, lush valleys, woods, clearings and forests make for exceptional diversity.

The towns, which are just the right size to appreciate, boast a good quality of life: Laon, perched on its mountain, Soissons and the Saint-Jean-des-Vignes Abbey, Saint-Quentin and its mix of Gothic and art déco, are just a few of these treasures.

If only our cyclists could take a little break, they would be able to enjoy local products: Maroilles cheese, Champagne, and many more delicious savours. To relax, they would be spoilt for choice: leisure areas, such as Axo’Plage for swimming or walking, or Center Parcs Aisne, with its Aquamundo.

And above all, they could get to know some of the warm, friendly, authentic inhabitants, who never tire of sharing the joys of Aisne.
