  The Vendée stages of the Tour de France  
Les Sables-d'Olonne
The famous seaside resort was privileged to host the first stage in the Vendée region in 1919 (4th stage, Brest-Les Sables; winner: Alavoine). It hosted the Tour every year until 1931 and when the race resumed in 1947. Most recent winner in Les Sables: Cipollini in 1993.



La Roche-sur-Yon
First winner: Le Grèves (1934). Most recent winner: Meulenberg (1938).



Luçon
1962: Minièri. 1993: start of a stage.



Saint-Jean-de-Monts (Merlin Plage)
1972: Gualazzini; 1975: Smit – Merckx ; 1975: prologue: Maertens.



Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie
1974-1975: hosted the start of stages.



Le Puy-du-Fou
1993: hosted the Start of the Tour. Prologue: Indurain.
1997: Minali.
1999: hosted the Start of the Tour. Prologue: Armstrong.



Chantonnay
1997: start of a stage.



Montaigu
1999: start of a stage.



Challans
1999: Kirsipuu.



On the 5th stage (Bordeaux-Nantes) of the first Tour de France in 1903 the riders crossed Luçon, Mareuil-sur-Lay, La Roche-sur-Yon and Rocheservière.
